On Thursday the 12-person jury that will sit for Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s falsified business documents case against Donald Trump was selected. One alternate was selected on Thursday, and the remaining five alternates were selected on Friday.
The 12-person jury consists of seven men and five women, with careers ranging from retirees and lawyers to teachers and engineers, according to Fox News. These are the jurors selected to be part of the panel:
Juror #1
Juror #1, also the foreperson, lives in New York City and has no children. He said he receives his news from MSNBC, Fox News, The Daily Mail, and The New York Times.
Trump defense attorney Todd Blance asked if he was aware that Trump was being charged in other cases and how that affects him, with the man responding, "I don’t have an opinion."
Juror #2
Juror #2 is a man who said he followed "right-wing" accounts on social media, such as Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen so that he could be informed of "anything that might move the markets I might need to know about."
When asked if he would unfollow Cohen, who may be a witness in the trial, he responded "absolutely."
He said that he has "not seen any evidence" relating to the case," and that "I will try to keep an open mind."
The man told Trump lawyer Susan Necheles that Trump has done some good for the country, adding in relation to his opinion on the former president, "It’s ambivalent. It goes both ways."
The man replaced a woman who was initially sworn in to be juror #2 after she said she could not be impartial.
Juror #3
Juror #3 is a Manhattan young to middle-aged man who grew up in Oregon. He has been an attorney practicing corporate law for five years and gets news from The New York Times and Google. He said he enjoys hiking and running in his free time.
Juror #4
Juror #4 is a man that has lived in New York City for 15 years, but is originally from California. He has worked as a security engineer for 25 years, and has three children with his wife, who is a teacher.
He said he has served on a grand jury and in a jury for a criminal trial, and that he gets his news from a "smattering" of news sources and does not use social media. He added that he has a relative who works in finance, and brothers-in-law who work as lawyers.
He told the court that he has no feelings about how Trump is being treated in the case.
The man replaced another man originally sworn in as juror #4 after it was revealed that the man was arrested in the 1990s for tearing down conservative political posters.
Juror #5
Juror #5 is a young New York-born woman who has been teaching English Language Arts for eight years and was previously a caseworker at a juvenile detention center.
She said she is not married and does not have children. Her mother was an administrative aide for a police department and her godfather was a homicide detective. She said she has a masters in education.
The woman said she gets her news from Google and TikTok and would not hold it against Trump if he decides not to testify in the trial.
She said that she has friends who have strong opinions of Trump, but that she was not a political person and avoids these types of conversations.
"President Trump speaks his mind, and I’d rather that than someone who’s in office who you don’t know what they’re thinking," she said.
The juror also raised her hand to indicate that she was learning for the first time that day that Trump had been charged in other cases.
Juror #6
Juror #6 is a woman living in Manhattan, who works as a software engineer and said she likes to dance.
Juror #7
Juror #7 is a man who works as an attorney and civil litigator and is originally from North Carolina. He is married with two children, with his wife working in risk management for a bank.
He said he gets his news from The Washington Post, the New York Post, The New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal.
He said he does have "political views as to the Trump presidency" and likely disagreed with some Trump administration policies.
"I don’t know the man and I don’t have any opinions about him personally," he added.
As for his career as a lawyer, the man said he doesn’t have any opinions on Trump’s character.
"I certainly follow the news," he said. "I’m aware there are other lawsuits out there. But I’m not sure that I know anyone’s character."
Juror #8
Juror #8 is a man living on the Upper East Side who is originally from Lebanon. He is retired and previously worked for a major financial firm as a wealth manager and currently consults.
He is married with two children, does not participate in any organizations, holds a Masters of Business Administration, and enjoys skiing, yoga, and meditation.
He said he reads CNBC, BBC, the Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times, and doesn’t listen to talk radio. He said he has friends in the financial field and his brother is an attorney.
He said he does not have any opinions or beliefs about Trump that would prevent him from being fair or impartial.
Juror #9
Juror #9 is a woman who lives in Manhattan and is originally from New Jersey. She works as a speech therapist.
She is not married and has no children, and said she likes to spend time with friends, go on walks, and go to restaurants in her free time.
She said she has never served on a jury, doesn’t follow current events closely, and has email subscriptions to CNN and The New York Times.
She said she does have opinions about Trump, but believes she can put them side and be fair and impartial.
Juror #10
Juror #10 is a man living in Manhattan who is originally from Ohio. He works in commerce for a large company and is not married and has no children.
He said he lives with another adult who works in accounting and enjoys being outdoors and loves animals.
He said he doesn’t really follow the news and listens to podcasts on behavioral psychology.
He said he has no strong opinions on how Trump is being treated in the case.
Juror #11
Juror #11 is a woman living in upper Manhattan and is originally from California. She is unmarried and her hobbies include traveling.
She said she doesn’t really follow the news but watches late-night news, and that her apartment has been robbed before.
Juror #12
Juror #12 is a woman who lives in the Upper East Side, and previously lived in South Carolina and North Carolina.
She has been a physical therapist for 15 years, is married to a man who is a coach for a professional sports team, and holds both a bachelors and doctorate degree.
She said she reads The New York Times, USA Today, and CNN, and listens to podcasts related to sports and faith.
She has two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law who are attorneys.
Alternates
The one alternate selected on Thursday is a woman who works as an asset manager, NBC News reported. The five alternates selected on Friday include an audio professional, a clothing company executive, a construction company project manager, a contract specialist, and an unemployed married woman who said she’s into art.
