Evidence has surfaced showing that then Vice President Joe Biden and then Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had a phone call just before now president Trump took office. In the call, they discussed setting up a back-channel to go around official channels and undermine Trump.

According to The Federalist, the conversation between the two politicians revolved around the matter of continuing foreign relations policy in place under the Obama administration, despite what Trump’s policy may have been upon taking office.

The call took place in late 2016, and contains lots of questionable conversation, which some critics have referred to as “sabotage” on the part of Biden. There exists the possibility that the Logan Act was violated with that phone call.

Here are some excerpts:

“The truth of the matter is that the incoming administration doesn’t know a great deal about [Ukraine]” (Biden goes on to categorize the Trump administration as unprepared for the transition).

“I don’t plan on going away. As a private citizen, I plan on staying deeply engaged in the endeavor that you have begun and we have begun.”

“I’ve been somewhat limited on what I am able to tell [the Trump transition team] about Ukraine.”

This was concurrent with what’s now known as “Crossfire Hurricane,” a multi-agency investigation into the Trump campaign, where public accusations occurred regarding Trump’s possible connections with Russia and also the Ukraine.

Biden shared his misgivings about the new American leadership with the head of a foreign nation that was under FBI investigation. He told this leader that he did not feel at ease sharing information gained during his time in the Obama White House with Trump— despite Trump having been freely and fairly elected by the American people, who Biden took an oath of office to serve.

Instead, Biden shared his misgivings with a foreign national leader that was being scrutinized by American law enforcement. Biden knew the investigation was under way at the time, yet he still called American national leadership into question. Biden's interest appears to have been in sinking Trump, not preserving national security.
