Brandon Straka, head of the #WalkAway Campaign, filed a defamation lawsuit on Friday against MSNBC, Chris Hayes, and Ari Melber over their "untruthful reporting" on the details of his involvement during the events of January 6 on Capitol Hill.

On Twitter, Straka wrote, "Today I filed a defamation lawsuit against MSNBC, Chris Hayes, & Ari Melber. I’m fighting back on behalf of every American who’s lives have been irreparably harmed by the duplicitous mainstream media." Straka linked to a press release with the full details of the suit.

According to the press release, "The suit seeks relief for Hayes' and Melber's grievously false statements about Mr. Straka's conduct and 'involvement' with the events of January 6th."

Straka was arrested on January 25 by the FBI in Omaha, Nebraska on felony disorderly conduct charges, which were then reduced to a Class B misdemeanor of disorderly conduct, to which Straka pleaded guilty. Straka's suit read that MSNBC produced "egregiously malicious and untruthful reporting about the details of his misdemeanor charge."

On January 6, Straka made a one-hour video where he personally dissected the events of the day and nowhere in the FBI affidavit did it indicate that Straka himself went into the Capitol building.

Hayes, on his MSNBC program, showed a video of Straka and said, "We got a guy who was there, who was involved in the lead up to the insurrection…who breaks into the Capitol."

According to the authorities, Straka did not enter the Capitol and as the press release stated, he was not charged "with any act of violence, vandalism, theft, or destruction."

Hayes also falsely attributed a voice from January 6 footage yelling "Take it away from him! Take the shield!" to Straka.

"Straka's Statement of Offense does not indicate that he gave a directive to encourage any act of violence or assault. This was a pure fabrication created by MSNBC," Straka's release stated..

Straka leads the #WalkAway campaign, an organization dedicated to liberals walking away from the Democratic Party and becoming red-pilled. Straka was deplatformed from Facebook after it became known he was in Washington on January 6.

MSNBC host Ari Melber said on his program, "He [Straka] was convicted in connection with the January 6 insurrection. He was found to have been trying to help attack police officers…His name is Brandon Straka. He confessed. He confessed to being guilty. He was found to [have been] helping attack police."

According to Straka's lawsuit, "The Melber Statements are materially false because Straka did not confess and was not found by any Court to have helped attack police officers or to have attempted an attack on any police officer."

Straka said that this will be the "the first in a string of lawsuits" against establishment media for false reporting over his involvement on January 6th.
