On Friday, Twitter CEO Elon Musk put up a poll asking his fellow users whether or not Trump should be allowed back on the platform.

Response to reversing the ban on the former president has been mixed, however the majority of users have voted "yes."

"Reinstate former President Trump," Musk asked.

Nearly fifteen million users have responded so far, with the "yes" votes outnumbering the "no" by around four percent.

"Vox Populi, Vox Dei," he tweeted ten minutes later, which translates to, "Voice of the People, Voice of God" in English.

Early Saturday, Musk suggested that bots were influencing the results, noting that "the bot attack is impressive to watch!" He later pointed out that they might be "running out of steam."

Earlier Friday, Twitter reinstated the accounts of the Babylon Bee, Jordan Peterson, and Kathy Griffin, all of whom had previously been suspended for breaking the site's terms of service in the pre-Musk era.

The Babylon Bee had been declared by Twitter to be in violation of their "hateful conduct" policies for saying Biden's transgender diversity hire, Assistant Secretary to the Department of Health and Human Services Rachel Levine, was a man.

The hateful conduct policy reads that Twitter users "may not promote violence against or directly attack or threaten other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease."

"Musk explained that Twitter's new policy was "freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach," and has not granted requests to un-ban all accounts. He stated on Friday, for example, that Alex Jones would not be brought back.

Trump was banned in January 2021 "after close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter."

One user pointed out that the Supreme Leader of Iran has been allowed to keep his account, while the former president of the United States remains sidelined.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
