Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced via Twitter on Monday morning that he tested positive for COVID-19.

"This morning, I tested positive for COVID-19. I’m feeling fine – and I’ll continue to work remotely this week while following public health guidelines. Everyone, please get vaccinated and get boosted," he tweeted.

Trudeau's itinerary for Monday includes a media availability, a celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year, and virtual attendance of Question Period.

The prime minister is due to address protestors at the media availability Monday morning. His whereabouts are currently unknown due to "security reasons," following the trucker convoy that has gridlocked the nation's capital.

In a tweet on Thursday, Trudeau said he took a rapid test following exposure to the virus. That test resulted as negative.

"Last night, I learned that I have been exposed to COVID-19. My rapid test result was negative. I am following @OttawaHealth rules and isolating for five days. I feel fine and will be working from home. Stay safe, everyone – and please get vaccinated," he tweeted.

Many members of Trudeau's cabinet have been exposed to the virus recently, including Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland.
