Following months of speculation by many conservatives, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has officially announced that he is running in the 2024 presidential election.

DeSantis shared the news in a Twitter space co-hosted by Elon Musk.

"Our country's going in the wrong direction," stated DeSantis. "We see it with our eyes and we feel it in our bones."

The Florida governor spoke on a myriad of issues plaguing the United States, including its poor economy, the crisis at the southern border, spiking drug overdoses, and the crumbling integrity of American institutions.

"My pledge to you is this," said DeSantis. "If you nominate me you can set your clock to January 20 2025 at high noon, because on the west side of the US Capitol, I will be taking the oath of office as the 47th President of the United States, no excuses. I will get the job done. "

The DeSantis campaign says the Florida governor is largely running on his record, which it claims is the most "conservative policy agenda in the country."

Examples of policy actions the campaign says back this up include a prohibition on defunding law enforcement, giving a Soros prosecutor the boot in order to ensure public safety, and empowering parents to make sure their kids can become educated rather than indoctrinated.

It notes that DeSantis has sparred with the political and medical establishments, leftist corporations, and the mainstream media, and stresses that he has demonstrated things can be better in the US, as has been indicated during his term as governor of Florida.

Also covered in the document is an explanation of why DeSantis will ultimately emerge victorious and thus be able to commence a "Great American Comeback." It points out that DeSantis won re-election by a nearly 20 percent margin in his state, previously winning his first run for governor of the swing state of Florida by only a small margin.

The campaign writes that the American people are sick of losing and claims, "The fight for the Republican nomination –– and the presidency –– is a fight between the past and our future, strength or weakness, and results or failures."

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
