A new report has surfaced claiming that Republican Senators expect that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will retire after a recent fall at a former Trump hotel that caused hospitalization.

The Spectator reported on Thursday afternoon that other GOP leaders are reaching out to party members to gather support for a possible leadership vote.

The Spectator writes, "Now multiple sources confirm that Senators John Barrasso of Wyoming, John Cornyn of Texas and John Thune of South Dakota are actively reaching out to fellow Republican senators in efforts to prepare for an anticipated leadership vote — a vote that would occur upon announcement that McConnell would be retiring from his duties as leader, and presumably the Senate itself."

Despite efforts to conceal the extent of McConnell's injuries, it was revealed that he had suffered a concussion and a broken rib during the slip in Washington, DC. McConnell announced his return to the Senate on Monday via Twitter, citing important matters that need to be addressed. "I am looking forward to returning to the Senate on Monday. We’ve got important business to tackle and big fights to win for Kentuckians and the American people," he wrote.
