The Senate passed a massive $1.7 trillion government funding bill by 68-29 on Thursday, allowing it to pass to the House before Friday’s deadline.

The massive, $1,700,000,000 spending bill will provide funding to Congress and their pet projects through September, preventing the incoming GOP-led Congress to control the purse strings of the US government.

It will also allow lawmakers to be able to get home in time for the holidays.

Axios writes that the passage is a "success" for the 116th Congress, as it will fund the government through next September and therefore prevent spending struggles when Republicans take control of the house in January.

The American people voted for Republicans to lead the House, but instead, Democrats will see their initiatives funded nearly halfway into the next Congressional term.
