On Wednesday, Justin Pearson, one of the two Tennessee state representatives expelled from the House for leading a gun control protest on the House floor late last month, was reinstated to the state House.
According to The Hill, Pearson was reinstated during a special meeting of the Shelby County Commission on Wednesday.
According to WREG 3, all seven commissioners present at the meeting voted yes on the reappointment.
Pearson will be filling the District 86 seat in the House as an interim representative, according to CNN.
Pearson and fellow Rep. Justin Jones were voted out of the House on April 6. A third Democrat representative, Gloria Johnson, also faced expulsion, but the vote was one shy of passing.
On April 10, Jones was reinstated to fill the District 52 seat as an interim representative.
The three led protestors to the House floor to demand stricter gun laws, using bull horns to address the House floor.
Jones and Pearson are eligible to run in the special election that will be scheduled for their seats. Under the Tennessee Constitution, lawmakers cannot be expelled for the same offense twice.
