BREAKING: Tens of thousands of Burning Man attendees TRAPPED in Nevada desert after heavy rains, authorities advise conserving food, water

Tens of thousands of people who have journeyed to the Black Rock Desert in northwestern Nevada for the annual Burning Man fest have been stranded after storms created incredibly muddy conditions. The mud has stopped vehicles from traveling in and out of the gathering's grounds.

Attendees of the event have been told to shelter in place as well as be wary of their consumption of food, water, and fuel, since supplies are limited.

"Do not travel to Black Rock City! Access to the city is closed for the remainder of the event, and you will be turned around," the event's organizers posted on X.

Currently, only emergency vehicles are allowed to drive onto the site.

The event, which is supposed to run until Monday, attracts tens of thousands of people a year.

American disc jockey Thomas Wesley Pentz, more commonly known as Diplo, posted a video to Twitter that appeared to show himself along with a few others escaping from the site. 

Over 73,000 people were reportedly stranded due to the conditions, with event organizers officially blocking the exit gates as of 8 am local time on Saturday.

One man posted a video to provide an update about the events in which he claimed that he and other attendees "don't need outside help" and that "a couple people didn't make it last night." 

“No driving is permitted on playa except for emergency vehicles,” event organizers announced Saturday morning. “If you are in (Black Rock City), please shelter in place and stay safe."

Another notable moment from the event came when a structure that is reportedly 8 meters tall was lit on fire in order to pay tribute to Ukraine.

American journalist Jack Posobiec ridiculed the event in response.

Cellular reception at the venue is scarce. 

Flood watches were declared in northeast Nevada, to the east of Black Rock City. Those watches stated that individual storms may produce up to one inch of rainfall, but that throughout the weekend it could hit as high as 3 inches.
