Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's mother and brother both received money from the WE Charity to appear at events, according to the CBC.

Both were paid for their attendance in 2016 and 2020.

Trudeau's mother, Margaret, spoke at around 28 events, receiving $250,000 from the charity. Trudeau's brother, Alexandre, spoke a 8 events—receiving $32,000 as an honoraria.

This payment will come as another nail in the coffin for Justin Trudeau, who is under increasing pressure after his cabinet awarded the WE Charity a $900 million contract.

Originally, Trudeau said that this decision was made by the civil service. This story changed yesterday when he revealed that cabinet made the decision—effectively being caught in a lie.

The Ethics Commissioner is currently investigating the Trudeau government as a result of this contract.

Even before this revelation, Trudeau's ties to the WE Charity were overt. His wife hosts a podcast with them and he has attended their events as well. For this reason, it is suspicious that Trudeau argued this charity is the only organization that could perform the contract—especially when civil servants are now performing the task.
