On Thursday, it was revealed that Twitter had temporarily closed its office buildings and suspended employees' access badges.

The offices are expected to reopen on Monday, November 21, giving Elon Musk and his team a chance to sort things out.

"Twitter just alerted employees that effective immediately, all office buildings are temporarily closed and badge access is suspended," Platformer's Zoë Schiffer reported on Twitter, adding that, "No details given as to why."

"We're hearing this is because Elon Musk and his team are terrified employees are going to sabotage the company" she continued. "Also, they're still trying to figure out which Twitter workers they need to cut access for."

Schiffer reported that employees were being told to, "continue to comply with company policy by refraining from discussing confidential company information on social media, with the press or elsewhere."

The move comes amid increased tensions between employees and CEO Elon Musk swiftly implemented his unique style of management to the company.

Last week, he warned that there were "difficult times ahead," and that "the road ahead is arduous and will require intense work to succeed." A few days later, he issued an ultimatum to employees, commit to "extremely hardcore" work or face termination.

According to Bloomberg, prior to locking up the offices, Musk had relaxed his stringent policy barring workers from doing their jobs at home.

He told employees in an email that so long as a manager "takes responsibility for ensuring that you are making an excellent contribution," remote work is permitted. Those working from home are also required to attend in-person meetings no less than once per month."

Musk has not been shy when it comes to letting employees go. He has fired or encouraged the resignation of numerous high level workers, and on Tuesday, news broke that he had terminated those who had insulted him on the company's Slack.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
