The Brooklyn McDonald's worker that was shot in the neck on Monday after serving the suspect's mother cold french fries is brain-dead and on life support, New York Post reports.

Suspect Michael Morgan, 20, will reportedly face upgraded homicide charges in a New York court on Monday, prosecutors say. Morgan allegedly shot victim Matthew Webb, 23, following an argument over cold french fries.

While grabbing a bite to eat at McDonald's located at 1531 Fulton St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant, the suspect's mother complained to McDonald's employees that she was served cold french fries. Morgan, who was FaceTiming with his mother at the time of the argument, stormed into the restaurant and confronted the clerk, victim Matthew Webb.

Morgan accused the McDonald's employees behind the counter of "laughing" at his mother, and the argument proceeded outside the restaurant.

Suspect Michael Morgan

According to prosecutors, suspect Michael Morgan punched Webb in the face and when he got back up he pulled out a firearm and shot Webb in the neck. Webb was taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition, New York Post reports.

During Morgan's Thursday arraignment on attempted murder charges, Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney Luis Paternina said they will be seeking homicide charges following the announcement that Webb is brain-dead and on life support.

"Your Honor, the people anticipate a homicide charge on this case given the victim is currently on life support. The victim has been transported to Brookdale Hospital and has been brain-dead," Paternina told Judge Inga O'Neale.

Adding, "The family now has to make the difficult decision [to take him off life support]."

Victim Matthew Webb

Camellia Dunlap, Morgan's girlfriend, reportedly handed Morgan the gun used to shoot Webb prior to the incident. Dunlap has been charged with weapons possession after admitting to possessing the gun, and is being held on $50,000 cash bail, according to New York Post.

Authorities took Morgan into custody on Monday night after hours of questioning at his home. Morgan allegedly told authorities that he shot Webb, and also confessed to a 2020 homicide that left victim Kevin Holloman, 28, dead, the outlet reports.

Morgan is being held without bail.
