Distressing video footage has reemerged on social media of a 2022 presentation given by a Colorado father in which he recounts the story of his 12-year-old daughter’s suicide attempt, which he says happened after she joined a gender and sexuality club at school.
Speaking before the Poudre School District (PSD) board in Northern Colorado, the very emotional father told of how in 2021, his daughter asked if she could join an Anime art club at Wellington Middle School, run by an art teacher. He and his wife reluctantly gave permission, despite knowing that there was a lot of inappropriate anime, trusting that the district would provide a safe, age-appropriate environment for their child.
Just eight months later, his 12-year-old daughter attempted suicide, and he said not a single PSD reached out to the family to understand what in his daughter’s school environment may have contributed to her decision to end her life.
He explained it was only after talking to other parents who had had similarly horrifying experiences that he realised his family’s story was not an isolated incident, and that the anime art club was actually a gender and sexuality club.
His daughter said that students were told they didn’t have to tell their parents what was going on in the club, but the school later accused his daughter of lying about being told to keep the information a secret.
He accused the principals of supporting and encouraging organizations “that they know bring with them a highly elevated suicide risk.”
He said that when he met with the principal, he said "‘I am proud of the community that we’ve created in Wellington,’ a community that led to my daughter’s decision to try to end her life,” said the distraught father.
“I would love to trust PSD, but the last time I did, the PSD environment, which you’re all so proud of, nearly cost me my child’s life.”
“Please stop encouraging organization that you know bring with them a highly suicidal environment. Our children’s lives are at stake,” he concluded.
Parental rights advocate, Erin Lee, spoke next. Lee’s 12-year-old daughter also attempted suicide after joining the same PSD art club in May 2021. Lee alleges her daughter was secretly indoctrinated in a confidential Gender & Sexuality Alliance meeting “disguised as ‘Art Club’.”
On a fundraising page, Lee explains that on the first day her daughter attended the club, an outside group was brought in to present to the children.
“In this meeting, an external presenter told my child “if you’re not fully comfortable in your female body, that means you’re transgender.”
The guest speaker also allegedly talked to the children about sexuality, polyamory and suicide, telling the young impressionable minds that youth who identify was transgender are “more likely to kill themselves.”
She also allegedly told the kids that “families aren’t safe and it’s ok to lie to their parents about her meetings. She encouraged the kids to privately ‘friend' her on Discord. She promoted medicalization for gender dysphoria and encouraged my child to pursue puberty blockers without my knowledge.”
About six months after this incident, Lee says her daughter tried to commit suicide.
“Our daughter’s confusion did lead to her becoming suicidal. She left us a suicide note,” said Lee in a recent speech. “I thank God every day that she broke the rules and talked to us about the club meeting that day and what she was feeling. I believe that if PSD had pulled off the secret gender transition, my girl would not be alive today.”
In her 2022 presentation before the PSD board, Lee asked those assembled how many families have to stand up here and tell you that your extreme gender and sexuality agenda hurt their child.
“How many more kids will you cause harm to? How many more families will you break? How many more children threaten to take their own lies before you stop this hyper-sexualization and secret gender transition of our children? This community looks forward to your answers to these questions,” Lee concluded.
