It has been revealed that Caroline Ellison, CEO of Alameda Research and ex-girlfriend of disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman Fried, had touted the benefits of "regular amphetamine use" in an April 2021 Twitter thread.

In the thread, which was sent while she was still just a trader at the company, Ellison lamented the monotony of "non-medicated human experience," suggesting it was "dumb."

"Nothing like regular amphetamine use to make you appreciate how dumb a lot of normal, non-medicated human experience is," Ellison wrote.

She went on to detail the struggles she faced attempting to get off the couch to do something, and lamented the fact that humans spend so much time thinking about food.

Later that day, she publicly pondered whether human civilization would eventually be replaced by octopi or aliens.

Ellison did not go into further detail about which drug she had tried, nor how frequently. Amphetamines can be prescribed to treat problems like ADHD, in the form of prescriptions like Adderall.

Following the implosion of FTX and the revelation that Fried had funneled billions in users' money to Ellison's company, people began analyzing the pair's online history, delving into tweets, interviews, and photos.

As the New York Post reports, aside from Ellison's implicit admission that she regularly used amphetamines, it was revealed that she had been part of a 10-person "cabal of roommates" who shared a penthouse in the Bahamas out of which they operated Alameda and FTX. Fried was also said to have been taking medication at the time.

Ellison became co-CEO of Alameda in July 2021, and took over as sole leader one month later, however following the recent collapse of both her business and FTX, she announced that operations would be coming to a halt in the near future.
