Fauci 'plotting his departure' before Republicans take Congress in midterms

Fauci also said he’s "prepared for the onslaught of attacks that could come in a Republican-controlled House or Senate next year."

In an article published Monday, Politico announced that Dr. Anthony Fauci is "plotting his departure" from both his roles as Chief Medical Advisor to the President and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, a role he's held since 1984.

The 81-year-old whom Politico calls a "disease fighter" also said he "wants to put Covid’s politicization behind him." In a November 2021 interview with Face the Nation's Margaret Brennan, Fauci publicly called Republicans "liars," invoked January 6, and said, "if you're attacking me, you're really attacking science."

Fauci also said he’s "prepared for the onslaught of attacks that could come in a Republican-controlled House or Senate next year."

Republican calls for accountability from Dr. Fauci grew in 2021 amongst calls for his removal. Republican Representative Guy Reschentaler from Pennsylvania said it was because the doctor was "wrong over and over again."

In March of this year, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky brought legislation up to fire Fauci and eliminate his job altogether.

Concerning Covid, Fauci said, "We’re in a pattern now," with the disease and "iIf somebody says, 'You’ll leave when we don’t have Covid anymore,' then I will be 105." Politico notes that Fauci's new Covid sentiment that Americans will "live with Covid-19 for many years to come" is a "startling" departure as the doctor had previously maintained strong different opinions such as the possibility of achieving herd immunity and the efficacy of measures to achieve herd immunity.

In December of 2020, Fauci admitted he was "guesstimating" the figures he was using for herd immunity, numbers which significantly impacted the country shutting down.

In March of 2020 Fauci told 60 Minutes there's "no reason to be walking around with a mask. When you're in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better and it might even block a droplet, but it's not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is. And, often, there are unintended consequences."

By January of 2021, the doctor was appearing on daytime talk shows to tell Americans to wear two masks, because "you put another layer on it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective." Fauci promoted that citizens wear multiple masks despite being photographed breaking the rule he promoted for others.

By the summer of 2021, after Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests from the Washington Post and Buzzfeed, Fauci emails revealed that he was telling colleagues that masks were "not really effective."

In that same batch of emails, information was disclosed that Fauci knew the Covid-19 virus could have been engineered by human beings and that children have a very low rate of infection.

Throughout the pandemic, Fauci publicly said vaccinations should be mandated for children, such as in an Aug 2021 interview with Jake Tapper when he said "I believe that mandating vaccines for children to appear in school is a good idea."

Fauci lied to Congress multiple times concerning the possibility that Covid was man-made and suppressed data points in support of that assessment. Senator Rand Paul confronted the doctor on the lie, especially because Dr. Fauci had funded gain of function research at the Wuhan, China lab from which the virus most likely escaped.

"They’re going to try and come after me" Fauci told Politico while speaking or Rand Paul and Republicans who questioned him about his testimony to Congress. Last summer Senator Paul did formally request a DOJ investigation into Fauci and has said he should go to prison for his crimes.

Other potential crimes Fauci may have committed is cruelty to animals as he supported an experiment where dozens of beagle puppies in a Tunisian lab were deliberately infected with disease-causing parasites.

About his exit, Fauci said to Politico, "I don’t think there is anything else that I, Tony Fauci, can do except leave behind an institution where I have picked the best people in the country, if not the world, who will continue my vision."

Fauci's vision has been criticized as consumed with protecting his image at expense of ethical healthcare practice.

Into 2022 Fauci has continued to push masking at all times and continually changes the definition of "fully vaxxed" to include boosters.
