Fox News has been dominating cable news for years, constantly at the number one spot for viewership. This streak however, has come to an end.
For the first time since 2000, MSNBC and CNN topped Fox News in the ratings.
According to AT&T Inc's , CNN topped cable networks with roughly 2.8 million viewers per day from Jan. 4 through Sunday, and 4.2 million in primetime, according to the ratings data. Fox News meanwhile, drew around 1.7 million per day and 3.2 million in primetime.
This was even worse than MSNBC, which drew 2.3 million per day and 3.8 million in primetime.
This news comes following President Trump's harsh criticism of Fox News after the 2020 President election. He urged his followers to abandon the network and support alternatives, Newsmax and One America News Network. Both of which are not rated by Nielsen.
Although Fox News fell behind its competitors, opinion based shows continue to dominate with "Tucker Carlson Tonight" drawing 4 million viewers on average.
