A gas station chain is making it more affordable for Americans to drive to their Fourth of July celebrations today, lowering the price of nearly all fuel at its nearly 700 locations to $1.776 per gallon.

Sheetz, a family-run operation with gas stations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia, began the tradition in 2022 with the two cheapest grades of gasoline, but expanded the price drop to include everything but diesel this year.

"Don't sleep on this deal," Sheetz tweeted. "Promo pricing on all grades while suppliez last."

Customers were quick to express their gratitude, with many posting pictures of their receipts.

"Thank you for being the best gas station & happy 4th!" a user wrote.

"Got up early on my day off for it," one woman said, showing off that she'd paid just $14.73 for eight gallons.

"Woooooo," exclaimed another user.

The promotion took effect at 12:01 am Tuesday, and some customers made their way to their local Sheetz in the wee hours of the morning to take advantage.

According to the American Automobile Association, the average national price for a gallon of gas is $3.53, with Sheetz' promotion cutting the cost in half.

"Sheetz is a family owned and operated company and we are always looking for ways to assist the communities and customers that we serve," President and CEO Travis Sheetz explained, per the Hill. "We hope this discount helps our customers keep a little more change in their wallets as they travel to celebrate the 4th of July with friends and family, with an obvious nod to our nation's birthday."

The number 1776 refers to the year the United States declared independence from Great Britain, with July 4 marking the day the Declaration of Independence was ratified, making the divorce official.
