A fundraiser has launched for the family of Alexander Edelman, a Canadian man who died in a truck accident while in the US state of Virginia.

Speaking to The Post Millennial, Binyamin Edelman, son of Alexander, told us the funds would go towards the heavy slew of paperwork and complications that come with bringing his father home amid the COVID-19 crisis.

"The cost will be substantially more than [the $40,000 requested] on GoFundMe," said Edelman. "Repatriation costs are very expensive."

Edelman said that the process could take weeks, as backlogged systems deal with hundreds of situations that have been complicated by the ongoing health crisis.

Funding would mainly go to repatriation and funeral costs.

Donations have reached over $13,000 at the time of publishing. If you would like to donate, please click here.
