A GoFundMe fundraiser for the family of the 24-year-old mother shot and killed after allegedly telling a Black Lives Matter supporter that "all lives matter" has surpassed $60,000.

Jessica Doty Whitaker was killed on Sunday following a dispute with a man regarding the BLM movement and language, when Doty was shot from a distance by the man before fleeing the scene.

The claim that Doty was killed for saying "all lives matter" came from her father, Robert Doty, telling Daily Wire that he wanted justice for his slain daughter.

"It was squashed and they went up the hill and left we thought, but they were sitting on St. Claire waiting for us to come under the bridge and that’s when she got shot,” said Jose Ramirez, the victim's fiancé.

"She shouldn't have lost her life. She's got a three-year-old son she loved dearly," he added.

Ramirez said that he did fire in retaliation, but did not manage to hit anyone.

An investigation by the Indiana State Police is under way. Security cameras have been installed in the area.

“Our message is that the canal is still safe to go,” Jerry Leary, IMPD Captain, said.

“Just recently the DMD is hiring two overtime officers to work the canal during those times nightly,” said Leary. “A combination of all those efforts we hope is going to make a difference..."

Her family only wants for her killer to be apprehended.

"We're going through a lot. The 3-year-old boy doesn't even understand really," said Ramirez. "I just want justice for Jessica and her son and her family."
