California's Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has yet to comment on Wednesday's racist attack perpetrated against candidate for Governor of California Larry Elder by a mob including a woman in a gorilla mask.

The woman was caught on video throwing eggs at Elder, wearing a gorilla mask over her head and threatening his bodyguards with physical violence.

It also appears that a member of his security detail was also shot with a pellet gun that same day, possibly in connection with the same incident.

According to Fox News, Elder and his entourage at the time were visiting Venice Beach and noting the homeless encampments which have, according to some, taken over the beachfront.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) also chimed in on social media, saying:

"That a black gubernatorial candidate can have eggs thrown at him by a white woman in a gorilla mask, with zero condemnation or coverage, tells you all you need to know about the left and their media allies." "Everything is racist. Unless racism is targeted toward a Republican."

Newsom is facing a recall effort, which will be voted on by the California public on Tuesday Sept. 14 2021. If the recall effort is successful, Elder is considered to be the favorite to win the Governorship in the resulting election.
