On Saturday, The Post Millennial broke a story regarding newly-surfaced video, depicting Liberal Minister Catherine McKenna, eating dog meat and allegedly bribing her way into an illegal cockfight in Indonesia.

This video came as a shock to many, leading to #McKenna trending on Twitter. The Liberal Minister has yet to make a public statement regarding her actions but Animal Rights activists are calling for an apology.

Animal rights activist and Leader of the Animal Protection Party of Canada Liz White called the actions of McKenna "entirely offensive," highlighting that cockfighting is illegal across Canada.

"We have sensibility that this is unacceptable," said White. "This is seen as totally cruel. You go for pleasure to see birds rip each other apart?"

Some have pointed out that consuming the dog was not as bad as the bribing and attendance of an illegal cockfight.

Others still, are unhappy with the consumption of dog as its own unethical behavior.

While many online pointed out the wrongs of McKenna's actions, memes very quickly populated Twitter.

While many seem to have either criticized or just made fun of the situation, some have jumped to her defense.

Unsurprisingly in 2020, this is a highly divided issue.

The Post Millennial will continue monitoring this story and McKenna's response.
