"Just looking at the damage that was done to him, that wasn't just punching that did that," his fiancée said.

A father of three passed away after being viciously beaten by a group of men outside his home in Baltimore, Maryland. The family of Christopher Wright, 43, said he was protecting his children from the gang, who had come to finish off a fight that had begun at school.

Wright was taken to hospital following the altercation on Friday, but sadly succumbed to a traumatic brain injury the next day.

According to the New York Post, Wright had been inside his home with his family when four men, all in their 20s and 30s, showed up. They demanded that Wright bring his fiancée's 14-year-old son outside to fight, but he refused.

"If he's not going to fight, then you're going to fight," the gang allegedly said, at which point they mobbed him.

Wright's fiancée, Tracy Karopchinsky, explained the extent of his injuries indicated that the gang had not simply engaged him in a fistfight.

"Just looking at the damage that was done to him, that wasn't just punching that did that. Like, there's no way that punching did that."

She added that, "the damage was done before the ambulance ever took him away ... He'd had a seizure. It was done. There was nothing that the hospital could do."

Karopchinsky pointed out that while the suspects ruined her family's life, their lives were also going to be "changed forever" as a result. She lamented the increasing levels of violence across the country, and said it's up to parents to solve the problem. "It's not the school's responsibility," she stated. "It's our responsibility."

Brooklyn Park Middle School confirmed that the original fight took place, and an investigation has been launched by the Anne Arundel County police into the subsequent attack. No charges have been filed against those who took part in the beating.
