Maryland teacher charged with sexually abusing a 15-year-old female student

Detectives believe Barth abused the student multiple times on school premises.

A high school teacher in Maryland has been arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a minor and a third-degree sex offense.

The teacher, identified as 44-year-old Matthew Barth, has been accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old female student over a period of four months. Barth is a teacher at Mount Hebron High School in Ellicott City and has been teaching there since 2003.

The investigation began after a friend of the victim reported the alleged abuse to the authorities. Detectives believe Barth abused the student multiple times inside the school premises.



Barth was arrested in North Carolina and is currently awaiting extradition to Maryland.
