The $60.8 billion Ukraine foreign aid package endorsed by Speaker Mike Johnson which passed in the House over the weekend contains $300 million for Ukraine's border security as well as their national police force. The House has not come up with a plan to secure the US-Mexico border.

Border security and illegal immigration have become a top issue for US voters. In a recent poll from Fox News, voters overwhelmingly said border security was the largest failure of the Biden administration and the second largest accomplishment of former President Donald Trump.

The bill to be brought to the Senate floor on Tuesday reads that $300 million will be made available "to support the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and National Police of Ukraine."

Leading up to the votes in the House on Saturday that passed foreign aid for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, tensions rose between more fiscally conservative members of the chamber and the Speaker for passing the Ukraine aid.

After the vote was passed, Democrats on the floor of the chamber waved Ukraine flags in celebration of the bill passing. The display brought heavy criticism from Republican politicians and pundits.

Despite high support for more border security among voters in the GOP and it being a top concern among the average voter, Speaker Mike Johnson and House GOP leadership did not work out a deal to get more funding to go to the US border for higher security measures.

The vote on the foreign aid package in the Senate will take place later in the afternoon on Tuesday.
