Conservative Party of Canada leader Pierre Poilievre hit back at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s suggestion that Poiliever isn’t “woke” enough to lead Canada.

Poilievre responded in a tweet, saying that Trudeau was correct. “Justin, you’re right: I’m not woke. But I am common sense and I will bring home a country that works for the people who actually do the work.”

Trudeau made the remarks during his keynote address to the Liberal Party convention in Ottawa Thursday night.

The prime minister suggested there is no such thing as being “too woke.”

“Pierre Poilievre’s populism, his slogans and buzzwords, are not serious solutions to the serious challenges we’re facing,” Trudeau said “Too woke?” Trudeau asked in apparent disbelief. “Hey, Pierre Poilievre, it’s time for you to wake up.”

But Poilievre, in a monologue recorded for Twitter, insisted on specifying what woke really means for Trudeau.

“Let’s define what your woke ways are. You believe that we should ban hunting rifles and legalize crack cocaine and heroin as you’ve done in partnership with BC’s NDP,” Poilievre said.

“That’s woke and it’s not working. You believe that we should bring in a carbon tax that goes up to over 41 cents a liter, that also raises heat and grocery bills. Meanwhile, you burn jet fuel, traveling to at least five luxurious global destinations at everyone else’s expense. That’s woke; it’s making everyone else broke.”

Poilievre noted that Trudeau had increased “the cost of the bureaucracy by 50 cent, only to lead to a strike.”

He promised to lower prices by “getting rid of your inflationary carbon tax” and to “bring home powerful paychecks with lower taxes that reward hard work.”

In his Twitter post, the Official Opposition leader pledged to ban cocaine and heroin, not hunting rifles and to “bring home freedom by ending your censorship laws.”
Speaking indirectly to Trudeau, Poilievre said, “All of these ideas are foreign to you, that Canada must seem foreign to you.

In his convention speech, Trudeau ridiculed Poilievre for his previous advocacy of crypto-currency and his criticism of the CBC.

He claimed there would not be another federal election for two more years and predicted that he would lead the Liberals into that race.
