US Climate Envoy John Kerry was spotted on a plane flouting the Biden administration's mask rules on a commercial flight.

President Joe Biden issued an executive order on his first day in office requiring travelers on commercial flights to wear masks.

Exceptions are made for infants under the age of two and those who are eating or drinking while on the flight. Kerry, who is 77-years-old, was neither eating nor drinking when the photo was taken.

According to guidelines issued by American Airlines, those who violate masking rules on their flights could be removed from the plane and barred from flying with the airline in the future. It is unclear whether either of these repercussions will be applied to Kerry.

Under federal law, travelers who violate the federal mask mandate on flights could be subject to fines.

John Kerry has often been the subject of controversy for flying on private jets while preaching about the effects of climate change. It appears that flying commercial could not help Kerry escape from flight-related controversies.
