Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) shared a series of disturbing photos on Twitter on Monday morning, showing the aftermath of a fatal Hamas rocket attack on a house in Ashkelon, Israel.

The rocket reduced an apartment to rubble, killing one person inside, a woman who was working as a caretaker for an elderly woman who lived there.

The second photo of the three is especially poignant, showing the elderly lady's walker standing almost like a monument among the mountain of rubble which is all that remains of the apartment.

Cruz is currently in Israel touring the areas most affected by the recent Hamas rocket attacks on southern and central parts of that country.

Most of these projectiles were intercepted by Israel's high-tech Iron Dome defense system, but a minority of them did get through, and these photos show a clear example of the result. Tensions continue to be high in Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip over an incident at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, where protestors clashed with police on the streets. The incident quickly spilled over into armed conflict involving the whole region.
