Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) had something to say on Wednesday night to President Biden regarding the situation at the border in his state. He said there is a lack of government transparency as to who is entering the country, and what is happening to them once they're in the US.
Abbott said live on a TV interview that the federal government is not allowing state and local authorities access to federal facilities in order to update COVID info or to investigate allegations of human trafficking.
According to the New York Post, Abbott commented:
"The Biden administration is not being transparent with either the governor of Texas or the Texas Department of State Health Services. We need to know what the health situation of these kids are. We need to know if they’ve been exposed to variants of COVID."
"Our law enforcement, the Texas Department of Public Safety — they need to do their job. Part of their job is making sure they track down and prosecute anybody involved in smuggling."
"Once the kids get over to the state of Texas, they are still involved with coyotes and smugglers and people like that, that we do have the ability to put arrest and put behind bars."
"The Biden administration is not letting us gain access to that information so that we can arrest and prosecute those that are assisting this immigration process."
The Biden administration continues to insist that there is no crisis at the border, despite the biggest surge in border crossing in American history.
Many of the people coming have said point-blank that they are coming now because they are expecting a better welcome from the Biden administration.
