A student with Turning Point USA was allegedly attacked during an occupation-style protest at University of Washington (UW) which launched on Monday after being delayed.

The student, TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk posted, was "holding an Israeli flag and walking in solidarity with his Jewish friends." The flag-waving student is Japanese and in the process of gaining American citizenship, Kirk said. The student filed a police report after the alleged assault, according to Kirk’s post.

As he stood peacefully holding his flag, a protester could be heard screaming "shame" at him. The assault allegedly took place soon after the video was recorded.

The protest, which was originally criticized for not having enough "Arab or Muslim leadership," has been termed the "UW Palestine Encampment." It was erected on one of the last days of the Jewish Passover holiday.

Other protesters have been active on other college campuses since shortly after the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel carried out by the Palestinian terror group Hamas. The group murdered about 1,200 people and kidnapped over 100. At least 40 of those are still in custody, though some of them may no longer be alive.

The protesters at UW demanded that the university "end US aid to Israel," cut ties with Boeing, and divest from Israel. They also called for an end to the Jewish state.

Students at the University of Washington have joined other campuses across the county erecting tents and taking over areas of college campuses to protest Israel's existence. While many argue that these camps are not antisemitic, many Jewish students have complained that they have been targeted by protesters for being Jewish.

The University of Washington is currently under investigation for antisemitism by the US Department of Education.
