Justin Trudeau's Public Health Agency has admitted that the body did not follow its own advice, preparing only a small amount of medical equipment before the pandemic.
The managers of the medical stockpile would not say if they ever told cabinet, according to Blacklock's Reporter.
Dr. Theresa Tam told a government committee that "There was definitely a small amount ... It wasn’t a lot."
Despite reports about Canada's dwindling national emergency stockpile coming from whistleblowers, Dr. Tam did not tell the committee the precise figures. They have also not denied these reports of neglect.
As the committee progressed, an NDP Member of Parliment asked Dr. Tam whether she had advised the government that the medical stockpile was unprepared for a pandemic.
Liberal Health Minister Patty Hajdu cut Dr. Tam off before she could answer the question, leading to the Shadow Finance Minister Pierre Poilievre to call it a "cover-up."
The managers of the stockpile haven't yet had to explain why they allowed the quantity of medical equipment to fall under the necessary requirement. As well as this, the Trudeau government also hasn't had to face significant scrutiny on this question.
