Kari Lake, former Arizona GOP gubernatorial candidate, came out on top of a straw poll for the Republican vice presidency over the weekend during the Conservative Action Political Conference (CPAC). Trump trounced his competitors in the presidential straw poll.

There were 28 candidates included in the poll, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley. Lake recieved 20% of the vote; DeSantis received 14%; and Haley received just 10% of the vote.

However, Lake's official campaign Twitter account wrote on Saturday: "BREAKING: Out of 30 contenders, @KariLake wins @CPAC straw poll for Vice President. We’re flattered, but unfortunately our legal team says the Constitution won’t allow for her to serve as Governor and VP at the same time."

Lake has refused defeat after losing the governor race in November, and she is currently challenging the election results in court. However, more than 75 percent of voters remain unconvinced that there was any foul play in the election, with 93 percent of Democrats, 58% of Republicans, and 76 percent of Independents believing that the results are legitimate.

The Hill reported that former President Donald Trump won the CPAC straw poll for the presidency by a large margin, raking in 62 percent of the total vote. DeSantis received came in second place with 20 percent of the total vote. Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo both declared their campaign for the presidence, with each receiving six percent of the vote.

None of the other Republican candidates, including Sen. Ted Cruz (TX) and former Vice President Mike Pence, received more than five percent of the vote.
