Fox News personality Tucker Carlson says the Biden administration's newly minted “Disinformation Governance Board" is completely misguided.

The Disinformation Governance Board is part of the Department of Homeland Security — a law enforcement agency, Carlson said on Friday.

“DHS is using law enforcement powers to identify and punish people who think the wrong things.”

secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has said its board would equip local communities to identify individuals who could be “descending into violence” from influence of hate, false narratives, or other forms of proliferated misinformation.

That, Carlson suggested, constituted a clear attempt to crack down on forms of thought that fell outside the official script—a script formulated and maintained by the Department of Homeland Security and the Administration running it.

“Descending into violence,” echoed Carlson, “not people who have committed violence or people who have been accused of any crime at all… is this dystopian future?”

Part of the problem is DHS' failure to define “disinformation," Carlson said. Without a specific mandate on what falls into this category, the board would find itself at odds with the concept of justice, he said.

“You can’t have justice without precise definitions,” Carlson said. “How is this happening in America?”
