Whether or not people should have to prove their vaccination status via a passport-like document has been a controversial issue. Florida governor Ron DeSantis has taken a firm stand, issuing an executive order banning the production, use, and requirement of vaccine passports and other similar documents throughout the state. The order is effective immediately.

Cases of COVID-19 are rising in Florida, causing many to question the governor's decision.

DeSantis made it clear to people that "requirements in this order do not otherwise restrict businesses from instituting COVID-19 screening protocols in accordance with state and federal law to protect public health, and nothing herein shall be construed to interfere with individuals' rights to access their own personal health information under federal law."
