White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked why the Biden administration spent $86 million on hotel rooms to house illegal migrants at the US-Mexico border.

The contract clears up hotel room space in Texas and Arizona, and would give homes to roughly 1,200 people at a time for six months.

The contract has drawn some controversy, as many began to wonder why illegal immigrants were being given hotel stays, while troops from the National Guard were forced to sleep in crowded spaces, sometimes even in parking garages, while they protected Washington, DC in early January.

"When we became aware that the National Guard troops were in in parking garages, the president called the head of the ng that day and offered his assistance … boosting morale, asking for more aid, making sure they were treated the way they deserved for the incredible roll they play," said Psaki.
