WATCH: Tucker Carlson slams wind energy for turning the lights off in Texas

Carlson suggested that the fate of Texas and its frozen windmills are what will be in store for the rest of the country if the Biden administration's plans for a "green new deal" moves forward.

Tucker Carlson took aim on Monday night at the sustainable energy industry, particularly the wind turbines in Texas. Noting that Texas has large deposits of natural gas, Carlson slammed the state for having put so much of its energy grid into wind turbines, which froze, and knocked out power for millions of Texans.

"Millions of Texans woke up to boil their water because without electricity it couldn't be purified," he said.

Carlson said that the energy authority in Texas had no answer for the debacle, telling people to "stop using so much power to keep warm." Many went to the Civic Center, which was repurposed as a warming center, and cautioned against the use of portable heaters that can leak carbon monoxide, leading to death.

"When the power goes out, even advanced societies become primitive and dangerous, people die," he said, noting that California has been subjected to rolling blackouts for years, with no abatement in sight.

"If there's one thing you'd think Texas would be able to do it's keep the lights on," he said, noting that "running out of energy in Texas is like starving at the grocery store. You can only do it on purpose, and Texas did."

He said that politicians took "the fashionable route" in bringing in sustainable energy, in the form of wind farms, which "destroy the landscape and degrade the power grid."

Carlson suggested that the fate of Texas and its frozen windmills are what will be in store for the rest of the country if the Biden administration's plans for a "green new deal" and an increase in reliance sustainable energy moves forward.

"Green energy inevitably means blackouts," he said, "and someday that may change as technology progresses. But as of right now, and the current state of technology, that is true."

"Green energy means a less reliable power grid," Carlson said, "it means failures like the one we're seeing Texas."
