On Saturday, a teen was killed and three others injured in Southwest Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, after gunfire rang out around 6:30 pm near the 1000 block of South 51st Street.

Police told ABC 6, that an 18-year-old who was shot in the face was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. A 17 year old was shot twice in the arm, another 17 year old was shot multiple times on the body, and a 23 year old was shot in the leg.

One of the 17 year old was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, but transferred over to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and is listed in Critical condition. The other 17 year old and 23 year old are listed in stable condition at Penn Presbyterian.

Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace said, "It does appear the shooting occurred from both sides of the street." He added, "It's unclear if any of the gunshot victims were actual individuals who were shooters themselves, that's still under investigation."

"The crime scene consists of at least 25 or 26 spent shell casings on both sides of the 1000 block of South 51st Street," Pace continued. "About 20 shell casings were found on the west side and an additional six to seven were found on the east side."

Pace noted that there was a gathering of people at a house down the street from where the shooting occurred but noted, "To what degree that attracted what led to the shooting is unclear at this time." He noted, "Based on the information that we have thus far, no one inside the home was shot. However, given the crossfire, several homes on both sides of the block were struck by gunfire, as were several parked cars."

The investigators noted that a gun was found at the scene of the shooting and they are asking anyone with information on the the incident to contact them at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or online, here. All tips are confidential.
