Biden attacks conservatives, praises himself in Pride month remarks

On Friday, President Joe Biden issued remarks in honor of Pride Month, praising the current generation for being "the least prejudiced," and slamming state legislatures for passing "anti-LGBTQ bills."

"Pride is back at the White House," Biden stated Friday, which who was met with a round of applause.

"Pride flags... are flying in more than 130 U.S. embassies around the world; a powerful symbol of our commitment to safety, dignity, and opportunity for all," Biden said.

Biden slammed bills being considered and passed in state legislatures that target LGBTQ youth, taking specifically about bills targeting transgender youth.

"So far this year, hundreds of anti-LGBTQ bills have been introduced to state legislatures. More than a dozen of them have already passed," said Biden. "These are some of the ugliest, most un-American laws I've seen, and I've been here a while."

"Many of them target transgender children seeking to prevent them from receiving appropriate medical care, for using the bathroom in high school with the one where they’d be most safe, even preventing them from joining sports teams with their classmates," he continued.

"Biden said this legislature "is nothing more than bullying disguised as legislature."

Biden praised the current generation for being "the least prejudiced" and most open generation, calling them a "great reason for hope."

"Look at the young people, straight and gay, it doesn't matter. They're the least prejudiced, this generation, the most open, the most giving, and the best educated generation in history," said Biden, who added that "in my generation 270 years ago, you'd get beat up for defending someone."

Biden also announced at he would be appointing Jessica Stern to be the U.S. Special Envoy to Advance the Human Rights of LGBTQI+ Persons at the Department of State.

Biden stated that her role would be "critical to ensuring that U.S. diplomacy and foreign assistance promote and protect the human rights of LGBTQI+ persons around the world."

According to the statement from the White House, "Jessica Stern, Executive Director of OutRight Action International, is based in New York. Jessica specializes in gender, sexuality and human rights globally."
