Biden lawyers spoke with federal investigators after discovery of classified docs at UPenn office

The discussion between Moore and Lausch's office appears to have been informal in nature, as it was not recorded in a 302 form, the FBI document used to summarize interviews.

It has been revealed that among those interviewed by federal investigators was Biden's personal attorney, Patrick Moore, who first discovered the set of classified documents at the president's former office at his think tank at the University of Pennsylvannia from his time as vice president.

The ten documents Moore found while cleaning out the Penn Biden Center in November 2021 were just the beginning, with numerous others being discovered later at the president's home in Wilmington, Delaware.

According to CNN, sources say Moore spoke with US Attorney John Lausch's office shortly after finding the documents, which were promptly handed over to the National Archives.

The discussion between Moore and Lausch's office appears to have been informal in nature, as it was not recorded in a 302 form, the FBI document used to summarize interviews.

Formal or not, however, anything Moore said in the US attorney's office would still be treated the same as if he were to declare it in a sworn statement, according to CNN.

Lausch was soon replaced by special counsel Robert Hur, whose office is now in charge of investigating whether the classified documents were mishandled.

When asked about the incident, Biden said he was "surprised to learn that there were any government records that were taken there to that office," adding, "I don't know what's in the documents."

Documents were later discovered in the president's garage in Delaware, with five more located by White House Counsel Richard Sauber inside the home. There is no visitor log available, making it impossible to know who could have entered the home and had access to the documents.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre chalked the whole thing up to an accident, suggesting that the documents were "inadvertently misplaced" by Biden and his team.

"He takes classified information and materials seriously," she said. "We have cooperated from the moment we informed the archives that a small number of documents were found, and we will continue to cooperate."
