Alicia Garza, one of the founders of Black Lives Matter and described “trained Marxist”, has aligned herself with a pro-Chinese Communist Party group to start a new project, "Black Futures Lab," New York Post reports.

Black Futures Lab is an advocacy group that is backed by the CPA, Chinese Progressive AssociatioN, an organization that says they empower low income and working class Chinese immigrant communities. They have also been involved in workers rights campaigns throughout the United States.

Black Futures Lab says they are gathering information about the ways policy affects black communities, their aim : educate and challenge lawmakers.

On a website asking for donations, Black Futures Lab describes how they are a “fiscally sponsored project of the Chinese Progressive Association.”

The Chinese Progressive Association has not distanced itself with the Chinese Communist Party however. The group held a joint event with the Chinese state that helped Chinese nationals renew their passports.

Chinese state media also praised the CPA when they raised the Chinese flag over Boston's City Hall in 2019 to celebrate the anniversary of the Communist Party’s takeover.
