The Biden administration's vaccine mandate for federal contractors has been blocked by a federal judge. The case, The State of Georgia v. Joe Biden, was filed by plaintiffs seeking "declaratory and injunctive relief against enforcement of Executive Order 14042," which required that anyone who contracts with the federal government "are fully vaccinated against COVID-19."

In conclusion, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia, Augusta Division, stated that "the Court ORDERS that Defendants are ENJOINED, during the pendency of this action or until further order of this Court, from enforcing the vaccine mandate for federal contractors and subcontractors in all covered contracts in any state or territory in the United States of America."

The Biden administration has been gung-ho to force, coerce, and otherwise compel Americans to get vaccinated. Biden issued his national vaccine mandate in November, with a deadline for compliance of January 4, 2022. While it had been announced previously, despite Biden's December 2020 promise that there would be no vaccine mandates, it was in November that the guidelines came down from the Occupational Safety and Health Agency.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released their anticipated new requirements for national vaccine mandates. All workers covered by these requirements were directed to have their final vaccination by that date. The rules cover "employers with 100 or more employees, firm or company wide, and provides options for compliance to protect their workers."

Additionally, all federal contractors were told that they were required to be vaccinated as well. This was what was at issue in the Georgia case. A Louisiana court blocked the portion of the mandate that was for health care workers.

In that case, Judge Terry A. Doughty of the US District Court for the Western District of Louisiana said "There is no question that mandating a vaccine to 10.3 million health care workers is something that should be done by Congress, not a government agency. It is not clear that even an act of Congress mandating a vaccine would be constitutional."

The mandate has not been well received by many, including some of those in Biden's own Democrat party. "I do not support any government vaccine mandate on private businesses," Senator Joe Manchin said of the mandates. "That's why I have co-sponsored and will strongly support a bill to overturn the federal government vaccine mandate for private businesses."

Manchin said that federal government should "incentivize, not penalize" private businesses to encourage vaccinations. "I continue to urge every West Virginian to get vaccinated themselves," Manchin emphasized.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
