BREAKING: Byron Donalds would 'of course' accept role to be Trump's VP

"If it came up? Oh yeah, of course," Donalds said.

Jarryd Jaeger Vancouver, BC
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) has revealed that he would gladly accept an invitation to be Donald Trump's vice president if the former leader wins the Republican nomination.

In an interview with Breitbart, the Florida congressman said the opportunity would allow him to "really help shape the country."

"If it came up? Oh yeah, of course," Donalds said regarding the possibility of becoming Trump's VP, "because you have the opportunity to do really powerful things for the country and really help shape the country."

"But I'm a member of Congress. I just do my job," he added. "I let everybody else speculate on the other stuff."

As Breitbart reports, Donalds has received support from many of his fellow Republicans.

"He's probably one of the more competent members that you’ll find throughout all of Congress," Rep. Cory Mills said, adding that he's "someone who would really be a nice balance for President Trump."

Rep. Kat Cammack called Donalds "the future of the party," suggesting that Americans "will definitely see him as a candidate for something bigger in the future."

Donalds and Trump appeared together following a rally in Fort Meyers, Florida in April, and again in Philadelphia in June, joining hundreds of fans at Pat's King of Steaks.

Following the first meeting, Donalds says he told Trump and his team, "I'm about winning. I'm behind you a hundred percent. It's time to go win, and whatever it takes, I'm gonna go win."

One thing we've all come to learn about Trump is that he loves a winner.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
