"If you think about it, we all want the same thing: our children to grow up happy and healthy and whole," one mother said.

Outside of the Boston Children’s Hospital on Sunday protestors gathered to make their voices heard against the hospital’s medicalized gender transitions of children. The hospital was found to be performing medical gender transition on children and teens, with drugs that prevent natural puberty and cause sterility, along with surgeries.

The event, organized by Chris Elston, also known as Billboard Chris on social media, featured members of the public from both sides of the political aisle gathering to protest treatments, many times irreversible, given to minors with gender dysphoria including mastectomies, hormone therapies, and genital surgeries.

Ahead of the protest, Elston shared now widely viewed videos that came directly from the hospital of doctors describing procedures that are done there on minors, as well as when children may know that they are transgender.

Elston said that his event saw more than 150 counter-protestors, and gave his thanks to the police officers that were "keeping everyone in line."

One video showed the crowd of counter-protestors being backed away from the other side of the street, where Elson and others had gathered. One counter protestor was seen approaching the camera, as others were ushered back across the street, who flipped off the camera and said, "go f*ck yourself."

In another video, the counter-protestors were seen waving trans pride and gay pride flags, chanting, "when trans kids are under attack, what do we do? Stand up, fight back," "Boston hates you," and "Nazi scum off our streets."

Another video showed the counter-protestors shouting through a line of officers at Elson, calling him a "transphobic piece of sh*t."

"Get the f*ck out of Boston, Chris," another man shouted as officers pushed the line back. "We don’t give a sh*t about you."

As police pushed the line back, the counter-protestors redirected their anger towards the police officers, shouting at them for pushing the line back across the street.

"Who are you protecting?" One man shouted at the officer.

"You’re blocking the street, in front of a hospital," the officer responded.

Elston was heard telling the counter-protestors, "I love you, nothing but peace and love. Let’s stop sterilizing children, okay everybody? Let’s stop cutting off the breasts of little girls, alright? How’s that sound?

One mother told author Wesley Yang, "if you think about it, we all want the same thing: our children to grow up happy and healthy and whole."

She added that the side she was on though, was hoping to get this goal accomplished without surgeries and medications.

"Gender non-conforming children — girls who love the way they look with short hair, boys who love the way they look with long hair and a dress — should be free and respected to live their life in a way that makes sense to them and makes them comfortable," she added, noting that these kids can do that "without body modification."

Recounting how she became part of the push against medicalized transitions of children, she spoke of her 15-year-old trans-identified child.

"So I have a trans-identified child, whom I adore with all of my heart," she said. "When she came out, and I started to read both sides — there were people who instantly said 'congratulations, you’ve got a son,' and there were people who said, 'you know what, you might want to just slow this down, put the brakes on a little bit, give her some time to figure out who she is.' That’s basically what we’ve tried to do, but the only place she’s hiring that is at home."

The mother said that at school, in organizations like the Girl Scouts, her daughter is being told that she needs to transition "to make herself happy."

She added that they "absolutely love and support our child," but that her child is still "figuring out who she is as a person."
