The probe into Hunter Biden's taxes reportedly includes an investigation into the actions of his uncle, James Biden, New York Post reports.
The probe, which surrounds Hunter Biden's business dealings in foreign countries, was launched in 2018.
Federal authorities in Pennsylvania are conducting an investigation into Americore Health, and have been asking questions surrounding James Biden's role in the company. James Biden has been described as a "principal" in the company, a designation which he disputes.
Two Americore hospitals were raided by the FBI earlier this year after being accused of failing to operate "in a manner that is consistent with public safety and welfare." The company filed for bankruptcy last December with prosecutors accusing the CEO of "improperly [siphoning] money from the debtors for his personal benefit."
While the Biden Harris transition team released a statement regarding Hunter Biden's tax investigation, they have not yet released a statement concerning James Biden.
Republican Senator Tom Cotton has called for a special counsel investigation into the controversy surrounding Hunter Biden.
