The man who posted a bomb threat against an event in Richmond, Virginia featuring journalist Andy Ngo on September 22 has been arrested.

Jimmie Lee Jarvis, who is an official member of the Democrat Party and owner of Mission Control Research and Consulting, was taken into custody on Thursday evening by the Henrico County Sheriff's Department and charged with one count of making a bomb threat.

Jarvis posted the bomb threat on X ahead of Ngo's speaking event, which was organized by The Virginia Council and Common Sense Society at the Commonwealth Club.

The post included a picture of dynamite with the caption, "On my way to the Andy Ngo event!"

Jarvis' account has since been suspended from the platform.

Jarvis' threat was one of many to emerge prior to the event and force not one, but two venues to cancel at the last minute.

Organizers managed to find a third venue, and the show, eventually went on without a hitch.

"My live speaking event in Richmond, Va. at a third secret location has concluded," Ngo wrote in a post on X following the gig. "I am safe. Despite threats and two venues canceling (Commonwealth Club and @Marriott), hundreds heard about the Antifa terrorism parallels between Richmond and Portland."

Jarvis has since been released from jail on a personal recognizance bond, and will appear in court next on December 6.

"The claims that his post in any way constitutes a threat are unbelievable," Jarvis’ lawyer, Tom Barbour, told the Virginia Scope. "It could not be more obvious that this post was satirical and therefore constitutionally protected speech."

"This case is a clear violation of Mr. Jarvis’ First Amendment right to free speech and his Fourth Amendment right against unlawful arrest and imprisonment," Barbour said.

The Virginia Scope, a Substack run Brandon Jarvis, who noted he has no relation to the arrested Jarvis, wrote that "Ngo has made a name for himself by railing against protests and 'Antifa.'"

The Virginia Scope noted the Southern Poverty Law Center’s description of Ngo, which states, "What Ngo has portrayed as his journalistic work largely consists of publishing anti-antifa, Islamophobic and transphobic tweets to his sizeable Twitter following, along with disseminating the arrest records and personal details of left-wing demonstrators."

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
