A resolution to honor Charlie Kirk's life and condemn political violence passed 310 to 58 votes in the House of Representatives,, with 95 Democrats supporting the resolution. 58 Democrat House members, however, voted against it with 38 others voting "present"

The text of the resolution stated that it was condemning all forms of political violence. It reads that the House of Representatives "condemns in the strongest possible terms the assassination of Charles 'Charlie' James Kirk, and all forms of political violence," honor law enforcement in catching the suspect, as well as extend their "deepest condolences and sympathies to Charlie Kirk’s family, including his wife, Erika, and their two young children, and prays for comfort, peace, and healing in this time of unspeakable loss."



Additionally, the bill "honors the life, leadership, and legacy of Charlie Kirk, whose steadfast dedication to the Constitution, civil discourse, and Biblical truth inspired a generation to cherish and defend the blessings of liberty."

It also "calls upon all Americans—regardless of race, party affiliation, or creed—to reject political violence, recommit to respectful debate, uphold American values, and respect one another as fellow Americans."

The names of those that voted against the resolution included Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and others.


Reps. Amo, Beatty, Bell, Bishop, Brown, Carson, Carter (LA), Cherfilus-McCormick, Clarke (NY),, Cleaver, Clyburn, Crockett, Davis (IL), Escobar, Espaillat. Fields, Figures, Foushee, Frost, Garcia (TX), Gomez, Green, Al (TX) ,Hayes, Horsford, Ivey, Jackson (IL), Jayapal, Johnson (GA), Kamlager-Dove, Kelly (IL), Krishnamoorthi, Lee (PA), McBath, McIver, Menendez, Mfume, Moore (WI), Moulton, Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, Pressley, Quigley, Ramirez, Randall, Scott (VA), Sewell, Simon, Strickland, Sykes, Thanedar, Thompson (MS), Tlaib, Underwood, Velázquez, Waters, Watson Coleman, Williams (GA), and Wilson (FL) were all those who voted “no.”

Reps. Adams, Beyer, Bonamici, Brownley, Bynum, Carbajal, Casar, DeGette, DeSaulnier, Dexter, Doggett, Evans (PA), Frankel, Lois, Friedman, Garamendi, Goldman (NY), Goodlander, Hoyle (OR), Jacobs, Johnson (TX), Kennedy (NY), Khanna, Matsui, McClellan, Meng, Pettersen, Pingree, Pocan, Salinas, Sánchez. Scanlon. Sherman, Subramanyam, Thompson (CA), Tokuda, Tonko, Vasquez, and Walkinshaw were all those who voted “present.”
