Psaki stated that she plans to leave her position in order to devote more time to her family, and has not indicated any plans to circle back to the position in the future.

In an interview with CNN's David Axelrod, Psaki justified her decision, saying "I don't want to miss moments. I don't want to miss things."

"It's a great job", she added. "It will be hard, but I also never thought I'd be here, and I also love my kids a lot."

As Business Insider reports, Psaki first entered the White House as a member of Barack Obama's communications team as his deputy press secretary and deputy communications director, and has served in numerous roles since then.

She originally had no plans to return to the White House, however after Biden was elected, he chose her to be his press secretary, and she agreed, but only for a term of one year. That year will come to an end in January 2022.
