On Saturday night, President Joe Biden was caught maskless dining with First Lady Jill Biden inside the upscale Fiola Mare restaurant in Washington, DC, in apparent violation of the district's indoor mask mandate.
DC still requires all indoor diners to wear a mask unless they're actively eating and drinking. The president was filmed walking around without a mask.
The video shows Biden moving about the restaurant, a case where a mask must be worn, according to The Washingtonian. The reinstated indoor mask mandate went back into effect on July 31 in Washington, DC, following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's updated masking guidance that month.
Masks are required to be worn by patrons in nearly all indoor settings, including inside restaurants and bars, regardless of vaccination status.
The restrictions stipulate that despite Biden receiving all necessary COVID-19 vaccines, including the booster shot, he is still required to wear a mask.
Fabio Trabocchi Restaurants, which owns the upscale Italian coastal cuisine restaurant in Georgetown as well as numerous other restaurants, states on their own website that masks are required to be worn at all times within the establishment when not eating or drinking.
When greeted by reporters and the public outside, Biden was met with cheers and a sole question of "How was dinner, Mr. President?"
No reporters questioned his lack of masking.
Biden is not the only offending official to be seen violating DC's mask mandate. On the same day that the mandate went into effect, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser was hypocritically caught maskless while officiating an indoor wedding.
The night before the wedding, and before the mask mandate went into effect, Bowser was also seen partying indoors in DC, maskless, and with friends.
