The shooter's notes claimed the Seventh-Day Adventist Church was at fault for "genocide" as well as "oppression" of the Palestinians.
Glenn Litton, 56, was identified as the gunman who walked into the Feather River School of Seventh-Day Adventists elementary school. He shot two kindergarteners on the scene before turning the gun on himself and claimed that he wanted to enroll his child in the school to gain access before he took the shots, per the Daily Mail.
A local sheriff in the area noted that Litton had a note attached to his body that claimed the Seventh-Day Adventist Church was at fault for "genocide" as well as "oppression" that Palestinians are facing and made similar claims about America attacking Yemen. Authorities determined that it was a politically motivated attack.
6-year-old Roman Mendez and 5-year-old Elias Wolfhard were identified as the victims in the shooting. Both were critically injured but are in stable condition after the shooting. Litton's writings added that the religious sect needed to have "counter-measures" taken against it in response to America's involvement in the Middle East. He has set another appointment at a different Seventh-Day Adventist school for Thursday. A GoFundMe has been set up by Wolfhard's family for their son's medical expenses and a GiveSendGo was set up by the Mendez family for their son.
The shooting took place on Wednesday a little after 1 pm local time and the school has fewer than three dozen students. He apparently seemed "cordial" in the meeting where he pretended to want to enroll his child before the shooting took place.
County Sheriff Kory Honea said that officers were able to recover a ghost gun at the scene. Litton was previously convicted of felonies, and could not legally have a firearm.
