A Detroit woman took a DNA test to find out who her father was and the result ended up being her family doctor. That doctor has since confessed to using his own sperm "hundreds of times" to father the children of women who were in his care for fertility treatments.

Dr. Peven, now aged 104, alarmingly claimed that many of his colleagues did the exact same thing. This was something of a common practice of fertility doctors in the early days of fertility medicine.

According to local outlet ABC7, Jamie Hall, one of the many of Dr. Peven's descendants, confronted the doctor at his home, and he admitted to being her biological father.

Hall took what she thought would be a routine DNA test using the Ancestry genealogy site when the surprising results came back, and she was able to trace her roots back to Dr. Peven.

When she confronted him, she asked him if thought he would ever be caught. "I said did you ever think that DNA would bring back all your biological children to you? And he said, 'Oh, no,'" said Hall.

"His daughter by marriage said to me once... 'Dad, you could have hundreds, maybe thousands of kids. And he goes, I guess that’s true.' He said, 'I started donating sperm in the 1940's,'"

According to Hall, she was conceived after her parents were two of hundreds of patients who went to Dr. Peven's clinic in the 1950's because of fertility problems. Both her parents are now deceased, and lived out their lives with no knowledge of what the doctor had done.

Dr. Peven said that back then, he was considered a pioneer. "I was on the cutting edge, a pioneer... to be doing what I was doing at my practice."
